This paper aims to move the discussion on to a particular space where these new terms have begun to be used: the podcast, Queeromp, on Radio Kerne (Bramoullé, 2025). How queer Breton speakers talk about their lives and their experiences in this series of 8 podcasts is primarily examined through the lens of visibility, and how a queer Breton-language world is talked into being. Additionally, the paper will examine the extent to which new terms are gaining currency among the Breton-speaking community by a close analysis of the frequency of their use in these podcasts. As minoritised language communities move toward linguistic modernisation in order to deal with the pressures of modernity and globalisation, it is vital that all speakers within these communities are visibly represented in terms of language, and this case study demonstrates how this is being attempted in the Breton language at the present time.

References:

Daussa,, Eva J. and Hornsby, Michael. “Gender-neutral language in situations of minoritization: Some examples from Catalan and Breton”.
